Livestock individual-identification data generated as the byproduct of being an official electronic-ear-tag and identification-platform supplier to Brazil's national individual-identification programme (PNIB), which makes traceability of cattle and buffalo mandatory. The programme's stated design is to record the history, location and movements of every animal, identified by electronic ear tag or flag tag, so the resulting asset is a movement-and-history register for a herd of order 238 million head — the largest individual-animal livestock registry anywhere.
