Calibrated urban-and-port environmental digital twin

LIBELIUMManage supplier listing

Calibrated urban-and-port environmental digital twin: co-located real-time sensor streams (NO, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, CO2, PM1/PM2.5/PM10, ambient noise, temperature, humidity, wind, pedestrian flows) fused with traffic and camera observations, then run through a coupled model stack (SUMO traffic, WRF meteorology, CHIMERE chemistry, MUNICH street-canyon) at up to 100 m resolution. The genuinely non-obvious byproducts are: (a) model-calibration pairs — every deployment tunes WRF/CHIMERE/MUNICH output against the company's own colocated measurements, so each city yields a matched simulated-versus-observed corpus at street scale, which is the rarest training data in urban dispersion; (b) scenario/counterfactual data — the platform generates up to 10 simulated mobility-restriction scenarios per city with predicted emissions and noise impacts, i.e. labelled what-if interventions that cannot be produced from any public dataset because the interventions were never enacted; (c) post-intervention verification series showing measured before/after against modelled expectation; (d) a cross-city common model-output schema validated across six cities, an interoperability asset in itself; (e) port and freight air-quality series (Baltic Sea port of Gdansk) where shipping-attribution data is scarce; and (f) acoustic and pedestrian-flow streams riding on the same street furniture.

Format
Structured geospatial and time-series entities exposed through a FIWARE / NGSI-LD context broker, plus gridded model rasters and heat-map tiles, CSV/API extracts, and dashboard feeds; sensor telemetry arrives over LoRaWAN from modular hardware (Waspmote / Plug & Sense! families)
Volume
Per-city scale is what matters, not total bulk: order 1e5-1e6 observations per day per city deployment (multi-pollutant plus noise, weather and pedestrian nodes at sub-hourly cadence, enriched by traffic-camera counts). The distinctive volume is the model archive — up to 10 scenario runs per city times hourly model output at up to 100 m resolution across a six-city validated schema, so the modelled corpus plausibly exceeds the measured corpus by orders of magnitude
Users
N/A as a consumer registered-user metric — Envair360 is a city/port institutional platform, one deployment per authority. Account-relevant denominators: Libelium hardware deployed in 120+ countries, a developer community of roughly 2,000 developers across 115 countries, distributors in 34+ countries, and a named public-sector deployment set (Cartagena, Zaragoza, Gdansk, Glasgow, Athens, Ljubljana)

Active, mid-pivot — 20-year anniversary marked publicly, ~98 staff, revenue band ~$14M, ongoing named deployments into 2023-2025 and a formal research output around Envair360 (six-city export audit, Cartagena methodology publication). Strategic direction is visibly moving from hardware sales toward platform and data services, with the CEO publicly active on European data governance and data-space policy
Launched
Company and sensor line: 2006 (bootstrapped in Zaragoza, evolved from the Cooking Hacks open-hardware project). Envair360 as a productised AI platform: ~2022-2023, with the Cartagena Low Emission Zone and Zaragoza smart-lamppost work documented in 2023
